There is so much amazing talent out that has been recorded. The means to publish and distribute one's passion has become easier in today's age, and so too it has become easier to be an artist. I did not say that it is easy in today's day to make it as an artist, but it is much easier to be an artist. Whereas in the older days, a group or act had to impress one of the few important talent agency or labels enough to get signed, today a group can essentially start its own label, or produce a record on its own. It gives up some edge on its marketing, but the group can still get their message out to the people.

Animal Collective out of Baltimore, Maryland lights the way for those who are currently confused about what they want out of life in their song, "My Girls". The Collective' ideals are raising a family, not necessarily in a house but some safe structure, and ceasing to worry about the meaningless possessions that society makes seem so important. The song is composed so peacefully and passionately that when you listen to it in the morning, you dont have much of an urge to turn on that shitty tv.
While the song is a just a tiny bit too slow for my tastes to get me up and going, I prefer the remix done by homie Hatchmatik. If you havent heard of this DJ his shit is hype and he's finally getting some respect. Here's a quote about him,
"“You’re in the middle of a shitty loft in montreal at a drugged up afterparty with wacky drunk francos trying to hit on trashy anglos with way too much attitude and there’s this redhead kid making miracles behind the turntables, he’s surrounded by hot half goth half 2 live crew bitches and he just shines, that’s Hatchmatik.” -Teki Latex
There isn't much that I feel I need
A solid soul and the blood I bleed
With a little girl, and by my spouse
I only want a proper house
I don't care for fancy things
Or to take part in a precious wait
And to provide the man you ask
I will, with heart, on my father's grave
I don't mean
To seem like I care about material things
Like a social status
I just want
Four walls and adobe slabs
For my girls
